Coal Testing Facilities :- 1. Calorific Value: – The calorific value of a fuel is the quantity of heat produced by its combustion at constant pressure and under "normal" conditions (0˚ and 1 bar). In other words, calorific value or energy content is same as the heat of combustion.
· The testing and analysis of coal is quite complex. The most important step in the whole process of coal evaluation is to ensure that a 'representative sample' is extracted for testing and analysis. Regardless of what common international standard is applied to testing the coal, in general, the evaluation should generate very similar results.
These statutory provisions confer upon BIS, powers to recognize any laboratory in India or in any other country for carrying out testing of samples in relation to use of the Standard Mark and such other functions as may be necessary.
