Abstract A new strength test method for asphalt mixture at low temperature is presented in this paper. The method uses a modified Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR), capable of applying loads at different rates. Two major factors that can significantly affect strength were analyzed: cooling medium and specimen size.
For AC-13 (SBS) asphalt mixture used in this test, the change of strength with temperature has obvious stages. The inflection point of the strength change with temperature is 40°C. In the range of 5–40°C, the strength decreases rapidly with temperature, and the relationship between them is linear.

· Asphalt mixture creep stiffness and strength are needed in the AASHTO Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design Guide low temperature algorithm to predict low temperature performance. A procedure for obtaining creep stiffness by testing thin mixture beams using a Bending Beam Rheometer was previously developed at University of …
· The goodness of fit of the rubber asphalt mixture strength and fatigue life prediction model based on the GA-BPNN could reach 0.989 and 0.998, respectively. The indicators of the fatigue life prediction model are superior to the conventional phenomenological fatigue equation model. The GA-BPNN provides an effective method …
Abstract. Tensile strength is an important property that is commonly used to evaluate effects of moisture, and to determine the fracture resistance of asphaltic mixtures. A method was …
· The strength of asphalt mixture and other related mechanical parameters have always been a common topic for the civil engineers and researchers. Su et al. used the superpave indirect tensile (IDT) strength test to evaluate the concrete strength of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). It was found that the IDT strength of concrete decreased with ...

Asphalt Mixture typically weighs from 142 to 148 pounds per cubic foot (PCF) in-place. Use 148 PCF. Calculate the tonnage needed. (remember to convert from pounds to tons; 2000 pounds per ton). 83.3 cubic feet x 148 PCF = 12328 pounds of mix = …
· Additionally, Meocci et al. [] noted that the commonly used accelerated curing process (72 h at 40°C) did not allow the definitive mixture strength and stiffness to be reached, obtaining higher values after 10 days, a behavior that should also be evaluated in this research with a variation in the curing time. The same authors also observed an …

Therefore, the objective of this paper is to accurately and uniformly characterize the fatigue resistance of high modulus asphalt mixtures. To this end, the indirect tensile, direct tensile, unconfined compressive strength and fatigue tests of high modulus asphalt mixtures were implemented under distinct loading velocities.
This paper aims to determine the performances of CFA as filler in hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixture. This study used four CFA contents as filler by weight of aggregate in the dry method, namely CFA-0 ...
